  • In addition to the throwback uniforms, parts of Gillette Stadium will see throwback designs added for those games. That includes the field wall, locker room doors, and rally towels for fans. The team is letting fans vote on the designs for those elements, which can be found here.

That Week 5 game will come almost 10 years to the day after the last time the Patriots wore their red jerseys. Their last appearance was in a Week 7 game against the Jets, which the Patriots won 29-26 in overtime.

The Patriots have actually worn their red throwbacks against the Lions twice before – both times on Thanksgiving. Both of those games resulted in Patriots wins, with a 20-12 victory in 2002 and then a 45-24 blowout win in 2010.

They’ve also worn red as a throwback against the Bills before, in the 2009 opener. In that game Tom Brady – his in first game back after a torn ACL – threw two touchdown passes in the final 1:16 for a 25-24 comeback win.
