Jaylen Brown left Wednesday night's 106-99 Celtics win over the Philadelphia 76ers late in the first half, after colliding with Jayson Tatum. The injury was initially described as a 'face contusion.'

Later Wednesday night, Shams Charania of The Athletic was the first to report an update on Brown. According to Charania, Brown suffered "a facial fracture" in his collision.

Charania added that Brown "will miss some time," and that the "initial feeling is Brown would be sidelined through the All-Star break." Finally, he noted that Brown will visit a specialist on Thursday for further evaluation.

The Celtics still have four games remaining between now and the All-Star break. That includes two more home games this week, then a key game  against the Milwaukee Bucks next Tuesday. The Celtics and Bucks finished Wednesday night separated by just one and a half games in the Eastern Conference standings. They'll then play their final game before the break at home against the Pistons next Wednesday.

Brown is also set to play in this year's All-Star Game after he was selected as a reserve. He's one of two Celtics who were voted to the game, along with Tatum. If he can't go, the league will name an alternate selection.

So far this season, Brown has been having a career year. He's on pace to average career highs with 27 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game. His 49 percent shooting percentage is also the best he's shot in his seven NBA seasons.
