Reports about the Patriots’ interview process for their offensive coordinator job continue to roll in. Wednesday morning, current tight ends coach Nick Caley was reported as being set to interview for the job, as well as current Minnesota Vikings wide receivers coach and former player Keenan McCardell.

Those two won’t be the only two to meet with the team though. We can now add another name – another former player – to the interviewee list.

  • According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the Patriots plan to interview Adrian Klemm for the job. Klemm played tackle in the NFL for five seasons, including four with the Patriots. He was the first ever draft pick by Bill Belichick in New England, selected in the second round in 2000.

After retiring Klemm almost immediately got into coaching. He spent nine years in the college ranks mostly in offensive line coaching roles. In 2019 he was hired by the Steelers as their assistant offensive line coach, then promoted to offensive line coach in 2021.

Last season, he left the Steelers for the University of Oregon where he was named associate head coach, run game coordinator, and offensive line coach. There, he played a role in the major resurgence of the offense under transfer quarterback Bo Nix. The Ducks ranked ninth in the nation this year averaging 38.8 points per game.

  • The date of Klemm’s interview has not yet been reported. Caley interviewed on Wednesday, and McCardell is expected to have his interview on Thursday.

In addition to those three, Bill O’Brien is the only other individual identified as a candidate for the job. In fact, NBC Sports Boston’s Tom Curran named him the team’s “primary target” in the search, although no interview has been reported yet for him. In fact, is was reported earlier on Wednesday that he’s currently out recruiting for Alabama.
