Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak hit the 60 goal mark with a hat trick on Sunday night against the Philadelphia Flyers. On Monday’s Felger and Mazz, Felger gave his thoughts on Pastrnak’s 60 goal achievement.

  • Felger's thoughts on the 60 goal mark for Pastrnak

Felger: This one did very little for me. Very few individual stats do. I get into the team thing. I’m into who wins and who loses and why, that’s it. That’s basically why I watch sports. I’m not in for the entertainment necessarily. I’ll take it, I’ll take an entertaining game, but I don’t need. I need it to be competitive and I care about what team wins and what team loses and why that team won or lost. That’s what I care about. I don’t care about the individual guy. There’s certain stats that I think would be cool. I mean, if Pastrnak was going for, did Gretzky have 92?

    Mazz: Yeah, 92.

Felger: So if he were going for 93? Now we got a different story. If we got a guy going for the home run record, that’s a different story. There’s a few individual stats I like. I think the hitting streak in baseball is my favorite streak ever. The Joe DiMaggio streak and when a few guys got close like Molitor or Pete Rose, like that was cool. I like that. And I would be into that as well. You had one until John Farrell decided to bat Jackie Bradley lead off. Remember that one? I think it was 29 games.

Mazz: It was something like that.

Felger: He started to get up there and Dingelberry there had to change his order in the lineup and next thing you know there goes the hitting streak. I like those, there’s certain ones. And sixty is fine, but you understand how badly they start humped this thing?

    Mazz: Sure.

Felger: They double shifted the guy. They played him 80% of the powerplay time. It’s what they had been doing before, but just you should hate it. He’s out there with the goalie pulled and preserving a one goal lead. He’s sick the other night and he played. I mean, he didn’t play a ton of minutes last night, but every time he’s out there he’s cherry picking. They’re purposely feeding him. I mean, they’re giving up shots or other open players just to feed Pasternak and so neat he got to 60. Big whoop.
