On Monday’s edition of Zolak & Bertrand, Scott Zolak explained why he’s leaning towards Devin McCourty coming back for another season.

  • Devin McCourty's tune has changed...

Marc Bertrand: Devin McCourty doing Good Morning Football again this morning is any indication that he may not be back?

Scott Zolak: I lean more he’s coming back. I think I think a month ago he was done. Ready to go. Talking to TV people, trying to get into what his brother does, potentially, maybe call games, who knows? Now, the more and more that he talks about potentially retiring, he goes back and forth. I think he was on with Chris Price on the Patriots podcast that he does. He’s like, yeah man. I go back and forthwith my wife on it. You’re getting close, because I think Devin knows the date that he’s sort of got to tell them so they could plan.

Marc Bertrand: Well, he admitted this morning that Matthew Slater told him, don’t make me do this alone.

Scott Zolak: That’s pressure. Because if you got the itch, it opens it up. That’s scratching it.

Marc Bertrand: He (McCourty) said this morning he (Slater) texted me, hey, just talked to Bill. I’m coming back. Don’t make me do this alone.

Hardy: You know how awful it is here. Don’t make me do this by myself.

Marc Bertrand: You’re know how much of a pain in the ass Bill can be. You know how much better these captains meetings are when we’re both in them.

Scott Zolak: You know how young these kids are. I can’t deal with these kids by myself.

Marc Bertrand: Come on. You’re not going to ditch me, are you? You’re gonna come back? Don’t. Come on. One more year. One more year. Don’t quit just yet. We’ll do one more year, one more year together. So there’s that’s pressure. That’s a guy he cares about quite a bit. They’re both crying at the podium at the end of the season about the possibility of it being over.

Scott Zolak: As good as gone. Thought they were as good as gone. Both of them. Finito. I thought they were gone. One’s back and I think the other one is pondering coming back. I do. I Think it’s 50/50 right now.
