College Football Week 1: What you need to know

Thursday August 31st
7:30 PM NC State @ UConn +14 O/U 46.5 – Jim Mora and UConn look to improve from a 6 win season last year. While the Wolfpack welcome in Virginia transfer Brennan Armstrong at QB. The Huskies will face a defense that was ranked 15th in the nation last season.
8:00 PM Florida @ (14) Utah -5 O/U 44 – Utah has a great home field advantage but will be without starting QB Cam Rising. Bill Napier and Florida won the matchup last season and welcome in Wisconsin transfer Graham Mertz at QB. The line opened at 10.
8:00 PM Nebraska @ Minnesota -7 O/U 42.5 – The Matt Rhule era begins for Nebraska and welcome in Georgia Tech transfer Jeff Sims at QB. He faces a gophers defense that ranked 8th nationally a season ago.
Friday September 1st.
7:30 PM Louisville @ Georgia Tech +7.5 O/U 49.5 – The Jeff Brohm era begins for Louisville and he will have a familiar face in QB Jack Plummer. Georgia Tech will lean on its defense and secondary which was one of the best in the nation last season. Tough opener.
11:00 PM Stanford @ Hawaii -3 O/U 55.5 – Hawaii off a loss to Vanderbilt showed fight in a 7 point loss. Stanford welcomes in an entire new program with coach Troy Taylor. The line opened at 7 and it could be a very emotional game on the island.
Saturday September 2nd
12:00 PM Northern Illinois @ Boston College -9.5 O/U 52 – BC and coach Jeff Hafley have plenty to prove this season and will have to get better at stopping the run. They welcome in Rocky Lombardi and a decent ground attack in the opener. Emmett Morehead will be under center for the Eagles.
12:00 PM Colorado @ (17) TCU -20.5 O/U 63.5 – Deion Sanders takes over the Colorado program and begin against TCU the team that lost to Georgia in the National Championship. This will be a highly bet game but Sonny Dykes and his offense will welcome the Buff’s to the Big 12.
12:00 PM East Carolina @ (2) Michigan -36 O/U 51 – Jim Harbaugh will be suspended for this game. East Carolina has a new QB and roster. 5 touchdowns may be too many in this one.
3:30 PM Boise St @ (10) Washington -14 O/U 58.5 – One of the best games of the day as QB Michael Penix hope to leads the Huskies to the Pac 12 Championship. Boise St is the favorite in the Mountain West and have their own special QB in Taylen Green.
7:00 PM South Carolina @ (21) North Carolina -2.5 O/U 64.5 – A rivalry that South Carolina has had the advantage in over the last few years. Tar Heel QB Drake Maye is a Heisman candidate and hopes to out dual Spencer Rattler and a team that overachieved last year.
10:30 PM Coastal Carolina @ UCLA -14.5 O/U 64.5 – Grayson McCall leads Coastal Carolina and their high powered offense against UCLA and their 3- headed monster at QB. Chip Kelly’s team has high expectations and need to replace a ton of talent from last season.
Sunday September 3rd
7:30 PM (5) LSU vs (8) Florida State +2.5 O/U 56.5 – Another great QB matchup with Jaylen Daniels of LSU against Jordan Travis. FSU won the matchup last season and are much improved. LSU linebacker Harold Perkins and FSU edge rusher Jared Verse lead the way on defense.
Monday September 4th
8:00 PM (9) Clemson @ Duke +13 – Clemson had a disappointing season and brings in a new offensive coordinator and will try to compete with FSU in the ACC. Riley Leonard will look for the upset here against a Tigers secondary that struggled last season.
