The Patriots are expected to lose defensive play-caller Brian Flores to the Miami Dolphins after Super Bowl LIII, and it sounds like Flores could look to hire one of his colleagues in Foxboro as his offensive coordinator.

According to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Pats wide receivers coach Chad O’Shea has emerged as the “front-runner” to call plays under Flores in Miami.

Kelly cited a league source saying Flores “will attempt” to hire O’Shea, who has been with the Patriots since 2009 as wide receivers coach.

Flores is already said to be assembling a coaching staff, according to Kelly, with former Lions and Colts head coach Jim Caldwell in line to become assistant head coach and former Patriots linebackers coach Patrick Graham set to become defensive coordinator.

O’Shea was rumored to be on the shortlist to replace Josh McDaniels as the Pats offensive coordinator had McDaniels taken the Colts head coaching job last offseason.
