Martinez Blasts Major League-Leading 21st Home Run, Red Sox Beat White Sox 4-2
J.D. Martinez extended his major league lead with his 21st home run as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Chicago White Sox by a 4-2 score on Saturday at Fenway Park.
The DH powered an 0-1 changeup from White Sox starter Carlos Rodon into the right field bullpens to put the Red Sox up 4-2 in the fifth inning. Jackie Bradley Jr. had previously tied the game 2-2 with a solo shot. Watch Martinez’s home run below:

Martinez leads the majors in both homers and RBIs with 54. The Angels’ Mike Trout, the Nationals’ Bryce Harper, and the Indians’ Jose Ramirez have 19 home runs each. Martinez is also third in the majors with a 1.033 OPS, behind only Trout and teammate Mookie Betts.
Red Sox starter David Price settled down after a shaky two-run first inning to earn the win and move to 7-4 on the season. He allowed two runs over six innings with five hits and three walks, striking out six and lowering his season ERA to an even 4.00.
Up Next: The Red Sox look to take the rubber match over the White Sox in the series finale on Sunday. Rick Porcello (8-2, 3.59 ERA) will take on Reynaldo Lopez (1-4, 3.42 ERA).
