  • A Patriots fan went viral earlier this week after a woman in Raiders gear got caught on video yelling incessantly in his face about Las Vegas’ last-second win. Thankfully, there’s a happy ending in New England.

Pats owner Robert Kraft reportedly extended a personal invite to the fan, who identified himself as Jerry Edmond on Twitter. Edmond will now be in attendance at the Patriots’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday at Gillette Stadium. According to Alexandra Francisco at Patriots.com, Edmond will also receive a “customized jersey” and pregame field passes. Quite the gesture by the Krafts and the organization.

The original video is below, if you can stomach a trash person behaving like trash. The woman berating Edmonds in the video is obviously not someone you’d want to be anywhere near your seats at a football game. And this is just my opinion, but something tells me she’s not a fan of people who don’t look like her. She chose to behave this way, so it’s up to her to prove otherwise.

  • Edmonds, meanwhile, handled the whole thing with the patience of a saint. It’s relatively rare to see a fan show this level of composure with a trash person yelling directly in his face, especially right after his team had suffered a devastating loss. He earned himself the invite to Gillette Stadium with his noble actions. Kraft knows class when he sees it.

The Raiders fan in question has not been identified, and frankly, I don’t care if she is. People want that, some may want her banned for life, and if that makes them feel better that’s fine. But it likely wouldn’t solve much. Trash people exist. She can go back to her life as a trash person, for all I care. I tend to lean toward NOT ruining another person’s life based on one 49-second video that obviously caught her in her lowest-class moment.

But she’s certainly made her bed. Judgment has long been passed on her. For New England, we can try to focus on the positives, like the way Edmonds represented the fan base in a moment where it would be hard for many of us to keep our cool and not engage a person acting so nasty toward us over a football game.

  • Good stuff all-around on the New England side of this. Whatever happens to that Raiders lady happens. Hopefully they can surprise Edmonds and every other Pats fan in attendance with a win on Saturday, but that may be a tall order.
