The 2024 pre-draft process kicks off with prospect showcase games across the country over the next two weeks. Of those games, the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama will host the top group of prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft.

On Wednesday night, the Senior Bowl announced the list of coaches for this year’s game (the coaching staffs for the game are made up of a collection of coaches from around the NFL). That group includes a member of the New England Patriots.

Patriots wide receivers coach Troy Brown will serve as the offensive coordinator for the game, on the ‘American Team.’ The full list of staffers can be found here.

This is the second year in a row Brown will be heavily involved in one of the prospect games. Last year, Brown served as the head coach when the Patriots coaching staff as a whole worked at the Shrine Bowl.

  • As for what this means for Brown’s future with the Patriots, it’s hard to say. Obviously the coaching staff is currently in a state of flux, with Jerod Mayo saying on Wednesday that “everything’s under evaluation” when it comes to the coaching staff. That question was in reference to him potentially choosing a new offensive coordinator, and with that there would likely be turnover on the offensive staff.

Whether or not Brown remains in New England will be an interesting storyline to follow in the coming weeks. He’s a lifelong Patriot whose time in the organization pre-dates Bill Belichick. Drafted in the eighth round in 1993 he played his entire career in New England before retiring after the 2007 season. He then joined the coaching staff in 2020 as a running backs coach, moving into his current role of wide receivers coach the next year.
