“WHERE’S OUR GUY?”

In this clip, Michael Felger and Ty Anderson discuss Felger’s favorite college story of all time on The Off-Air Show.

  • It all started at a Grateful Dead show in ’89

Felger and his friends drove from BU to East Rutherford, NJ to go see a Grateful Dead show at the Brendan Byrne Arena (which is now the IZOD Center). Sounds like a good old time!

  • They took a bunch of psychedelics

You can probably guess how this went… It always starts off the same, with a bunch of friends having a great time on some psychedelics, until one friend freaks out and runs away.

Somewhere in the middle of the set, Felger’s friend wigged out and took off, to be found by no one. The concert ended, and there was no sign of him.

They searched everywhere and waited by the car for hours hoping their friend would show up.

  • They had no choice but to leave without him

Felger and his friends waited for their long lost friend for hours, until the cops cleared the parking lot and kicked them out. They had no choice but to drive back to Boston.

They called local hospitals and police, but had no luck. At this point they were just hoping he would show up back home safe and sound in Boston…

  • They found him in his apartment wearing a straight jacket

When they got home, they went straight to their friends apartment. Turns out, there he was, sitting in his apartment in a straight jacket that doubled as a hospital gown.

  • Turns out he spent the night in a psychiatric hospital in NJ

What went from a fun night out with friends, slowly turned into a nightmare for Felger’s poor, drugged up friend, as he was tackled by the cops on the side of the highway and sent to the hospital… Don’t worry, no one was hurt.

  • He thought the arena was a space ship

Well it seems Felger’s friend’s trip went south, as he thought the Brendan Byrne Arena was a space ship and ran for his LIFE. He ran all the way until the stadium stopped, full sprint, hopped a chain link fence and ended up on the freeway.

It wasn’t long until the police flagged him down. Felger’s friend kept on running leaving the police no choice but to tackle him, and take him in.

    Sounds like a wild night!

  • We are glad you found your friend Felger!

Hopefully this was his last time trying psychedelics…
