Felger & Mazz

It’s time for the latest Mazz’s Tiers! With 2023 coming to an end, Mazz gives his tiers on the worst organizations in sports in the year 2023!

Before Mazz’s Tiers, here are some notes on some teams that could make the list…

The Columbus Blue Jackets have won just one playoff series in the history of the franchise. The 2023-24 season is their 23rd season in the NHL.

The Buffalo Sabres have missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs the last 12 seasons. Their last playoff appearance was during the 2010-11 season and their last playoff series win was during the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Since winning the World Series in 2005, the Chicago White Sox have made the playoffs just 3 times over the next 18 seasons.

The Los Angeles Angels have made the playoffs just once in last 14 seasons. The Angels have had Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani for a chunk of that timeframe and still find a way to miss the playoffs each year.

The San Jose Sharks have made the Stanley Cup Final just once in their 32 year history.

The New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs Monday Night Football game in week 15 was flexed out to a Sunday at 1 P.M. game. It is the first time in the history of Monday Night Football that a game has been flexed out of a Monday Night Football matchup.

The Oakland Athletics, who are planning to move the franchise to Las Vegas in the coming years, have gone 110-214 in their last two seasons. The Athletics have not won a World Series title since 1989 and have not appeared in a World Series since 1990.

The Arizona Coyotes currently play in a college hockey arena, sharing their home ice with the Arizona State University hockey team . The current capacity for Coyotes home games is 4,900 which is over 10,000 less seats than any other arena that is currently being used in the NHL.
