Felger & Mazz

I’m a hockey fan that likes to dream some crazy trade ideas for the Boston Bruins and I’ve seen some others make extremely dumb trade ideas for the Bruins recently. The Bruins don’t have the cap space, draft capital, roster pieces or prospects to trade for the guys I’m about to list and most of these guys absolutely WILL NOT be traded this offseason. I’m also just a fan of most of the players listed and just want to see them in black and gold as a fan. So let’s have fun…this is for FUN….here are some 100% totally unrealistic trade ideas for the Bruins.

  • Sidney Crosby – Pittsburgh Penguins

  • The Pittsburgh Penguins are in the middle of nowhere right now. They aren’t a contender but they also don’t suck enough to tank. That being said, they will not be trading Sidney Crosby. He’s the face of their franchise and has been since 2005. But imagine if they would trade him? Add him to this group and you have a proven winner and can extend the window a bit.

  • Auston Matthews – Toronto Maple Leafs

  • Would the Toronto Maple Leafs trade Matthews to Boston? NEVER! Do the Bruins have enough cap space or pieces to acquire Matthews? Absolutely not! However, we could be looking at Matthews’ last season in Toronto, so I one can dream.

  • Mitch Marner – Toronto Maple Leafs

  • Basically the same thing as Matthews, except Marner has two years left on his current deal. The Leafs will likely have to break up the core four this offseason and Marner seems like a possibility to go. The Mitch Marner fan in me wants him to be a Bruin…but again, absolutely not going to happen.

  • Ryan Nugent-Hopkins – Edmonton Oilers

  • Edmonton won’t be trading a 100-point center that’s making a hair over $5 million dollars. However, at some point the team has to sacrifice some offense for defense and goaltending. And is Nugent-Hopkins really a 100-point guy or is he a product of playing with a high powered offense and on a really good power play? I’m also pretty sure the hockey fans of Boston would just hate Nugent-Hopkins.

  • Erik Karlsson – San Jose Sharks

  • The Bruins don’t have the cap space for anyone on this list, especially Karlsson. But adding a 100-point scoring defenseman would be fun. A Karlsson and Charlie McAvoy top pairing would be hilariously good and fun.

  • #2 Overall Pick in 2023 Draft – Likely Adam Fantilli

  • Will Anaheim trade the #2 overall pick? Probably not. Would the Bruins be the best trade partner for them if they were going to? Probably not. But how about a forward, a defenseman, and a goalie or prospect to Anaheim for the #2 overall pick and a future top-6 center in Adam Fantilli? It won’t happen.
