All is well on the Jaylen Brown hand front.

At least, that’s how the Celtics star and head coach Joe Mazzulla are portraying the matter. Fresh questions arose late in Boston’s 119-106 win over the Atlanta Hawks at TD Garden, particularly when Brown exited the game after seemingly having an issue with his healing hand laceration.

Brown offered up a positive update for Celtics fans during his postgame presser.

  • “Hand’s doing good, it’s getting better each and every day,” said Brown, who practiced without restrictions in the days leading up to the game. Concerns were valid about re-aggravating the hand injury, since Brown admitted the thing “split open” during Game 1, requiring a little extra attention.

But, ostensibly, Brown’s hand escaped Game 2 unscathed. Head coach Joe Mazzulla also said Brown didn’t “ask out” of the game because of his hand, and that he was coming out of the game at that time regardless.

  • Brown finished with 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting, and added three rebounds and two assists. He also came up big on the defensive end, with three steals and two blocked shots. Brown additionally cut down a bit on the turnovers, with four in this game, after committing six in Game 1.

So, it appears that the needle is solidly pointing up for Brown going forward, both on the court and on his digits.
