Misplayed a ball, couldn't secure a fly ball, makes a diving catch and argues with some fans pic.twitter.com/w0MCSCnRtJAs seen above, Jarren Duran struggled Sunday against the Kansas City Royals. He missed two fly balls in the seventh inning and arguments with fans in the stands at Kauffman Stadium. One ball was lost in the sun, the other out of his glove off the wall, both of which resulted in triples.
Duran also badly missed a fly ball that turned into an inside-the-park grand slam in Boston’s 28-5 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays in July.
"You think that you're alone out there when stuff like that happens, and then you realize that other guys have done it."

“They just happened to be throwing little bottle caps at me and stuff so I was just telling them to stop throwing it,” Duran said (via the NESN postgame show), via Chris Cotillo of MassLive. “Then one of the ushers came over and just told them to stop.”
The release of defensive specialist Jackie Bradley Jr. throws extra salt on the wound that is Duran’s defensive struggles. Bradley was never a great hitter, but neither is Duran. Bradley hit .210 with three home runs and 29 RBI’s this season, Duran is .227 with two homers and 13 RBI’s, Duran also has a better OPS. Not to mention as Cotillo noted in his article, Duran is .152 in the past 27 games and consistently sits at the bottom of the batting order.
Duran is 25 and still has plenty of time to grow and improve, but he’s also got a -0.8 WAR in the 76 total games with the Red Sox, and it hasn’t looked too pretty.
