Greg Bedard of BostonSportJournal.com joined Felger and Mazz on Tuesday, as he does every Tuesday during the football season to discuss the latest with the New England Patriots following the team’s loss to the New York Giants. Bedard gives us his 3 up and 3 down for the team in the 10-7 loss to the Giants.

Some notes from the game courtesy of NFL.com….

The Patriots loss to the Giants was their 9th loss of the 2023 season, which means they can not finish above .500 for the second consecutive season. It will be the 3rd time in 4 years that the Patriots will finish the season under .500.

Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson ran for 98 yards in the loss. Stevenson led all rushers in the game.

Patriots quarterback Mac Jones threw two interceptions in the loss. Jones is now up to 12 interceptions on the season. Bailey Zappe came in to replace Jones and threw an interception of his own. Zappe has now thrown 2 interceptions this season.

With the loss to the Giants, the Patriots fell in all 5 of their matchups with NFC opponents in 2023. They also lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, and Washington Commanders.

Rookie wide receiver Demario Douglas led all Patriots receivers with 49 reception yards on Sunday. Douglas now leads all Patriots receivers in yards on the season with 410 reception yards.

Rookie placekicker Chad Ryland missed a game-tying field goal late in the loss to the Giants for the Patriots. Ryland has now missed a total of 6 field goal this season for the Patriots. Ryland made his only extra point attempt in the game and is yet to miss an extra point attempt in 2023.

Patriots rookie defensive end Keion White recorded his 1st career sack on Sunday in the loss. White has made a total of 13 tackles during his rookie season in New England.

Greg Bedard: Jennings collected a lot of trash, but he did a good job. I mean, he’s always been good on the edge.

  • Trent Brown

Greg Bedard: Trent Brown, I thought, played really well, as opposed to Connor McDermott, who played, I think, eight snaps and gave up a half a sack and a quarterback hit in those eight snaps.

  • 3 Down

    Mac Jones

Greg Bedard: I had him for one “plus” play and seven “minus” plays. I mean, the two turnovers and plus he had to fumble that was recovered. There were a lot of issues on the interceptions. But the bottom line is he has the ball in his hands and he has to take care of it. Either the first one he just needed to throw away, I think that’s what he was trying to do, but that’s a that’s a clear throw away or scramble. The other one, he just needed to take the sack.

Greg Bedard: Tyquan Thornton. He’s awful. I want to do a Mazz like, “he sucks, he blows” that sort of thing.

  • Conor McDermott

Greg Bedard: Connor McDermott. Like I said, two “minus” plays in eight snaps. I mean, it’s just not good enough.
