During his career with the Patriots, cornerback J.C. Jackson was never afraid to be confident and vocal. It doesn’t appear much has changed since he left.

Jackson was signed by the Patriots as a UDFA in 2018. In his four years in New England he grew into one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, culminating in an All-Pro nod in 2021. However, the team did not bring him back when his rookie deal expired last spring, and he ended up signing with the Los Angeles Chargers.

  • As part of last week’s NFL schedule release, it was announced that the Chargers will be playing the Patriots in Foxborough in Week 13, on Dec. 3. That will be Jackson’s first game back at Gillette Stadium since leaving as a free agent – and he’s looking forward to it.

“It’s a revenge game for me,” Jackson told NFL Network. “I’m excited to go back and pick Mac Jones off and show them why they should’ve never let me go.”

  • Overall, 2023 has the potential to be a bounce-back year for Jackson. After signing a five-year, $82.5 million contract last spring he struggled over the first five games of the season in LA, allowing 16 catches on 24 targets for 334 yards and four touchdowns with two pass breakups and no interceptions. His season then ended in early October when he suffered a ruptured patellar tendon.

The Patriots will be looking to extend a six-game head-to-head winning streak against the Chargers, who haven’t beaten the Pats since 2008. The franchise’s last win in Foxborough came when they were still the San Diego Chargers, back in 2005.
