The Bruins will hit the halfway point of their season on Thursday night when  they host the Seattle Kraken. Through 40 games, the club has a 32-4-4 record. With the hot start comes a hot take from Mike Felger…..at this point in the season, they’re a Stanley Cup team.

Felger: Okay, here’s a Bruins take, and it’s not a very, well it’s pretty obvious and it’s really not that complicated and it’s kind of beneath me because it’s kind of corny and it’s not really well thought out and I’m not really trolling you really, but it’s simply this…..It’s a Stanley Cup team, right? It’s a Cup team.

Jim Murray: They’re an absolute powerhouse.

Felger: This is a Cup team. Anything less is now a disappointment, right?

Jim Murray: Yeah. Like, I had Eastern Conference final as my high water mark for a while now, they’re so effin good that they have to win the whole damn thing.

Felger: If things change in the second half, then I have the right to amend this take. But right now, they should win the Stanley Cup. They should. I don’t think they’re better than Colorado, but Colorado is down this year. I think if the Bruins are at their best, which they are right now, and they play that Colorado team from last year, they lose. They can’t keep up. But Colorado is not Colorado from last year. If the Bruins played Tampa and what they have been the last two or three years and Tampa is playing it their ceiling, I don’t think the Bruins win even now. I don’t think the Bruins right now who are playing at their absolute ceiling are better than the recent Stanley Cup champions. But I think those two teams are down. I think those two teams are down.

  • Jim Murray: What about Carolina? I think they beat Carolina.

Felger: Well, now Carolina scares me more, they’re kind of a grindier team and you’ve taken care of them. Not last year, but you know you took care of them before that. That’s sort of more of a team that would scare me, that they’re sort of grindy and more physical and tougher, but they should beat Carolina!

Jim Murray: Mike they should beat everybody.

    Felger: They should beat Carolina.

Jim Murray: They’re on pace for like 140 points.

Felger: Carolina is not more talented than you. They might be tougher or, you know, have some other qualities that you beat you in a hockey playoff, this isn’t the NBA, right, it’s not just the most talented team. So they have some things that might match up well against you….the Bruins should win the Cup. The Bruins should win the Stanley Cup.
