  • Jim Murray's Thoughts

I think it makes the Bruins look like complete fools. And this thing has been building for a while now, like, “don’t let this happen. Don’t let Bruce go out and win”. And he did. And the Bruins got what they deserved. They fire a guy when he wasn’t the problem, I don’t think he was the problem, they replace him with “Jimmy the Joke Man”, they proceed to blow a 3-1 series lead in the first round and Cassidy himself goes out and wins a cup immediately. It’s the Tom Brady story on ice. This is what this is. You chose poorly. The teams around here back the wrong guys! For the Patriots it was Belichick over Tom. Whoops! For the Bruins it was the likes of Brandon Carlo, Jake Debrusk, who had a good year, fine, Trent Frederic. “He so means to us. I don’t like how he’s coaching! He screamed while we were watching video!” Oh, oh God, the sleepless nights, my mental health!” And I know we got to take mental health seriously, all of that, but was it that bad? No, no, it wasn’t. He wasn’t the problem. The players are the problem. They’ve showed that. They’ve showed it again this year, blowing a 3-1 lead to the Florida Panthers. So I’m glad that this has happened. I know that some Bruins fans are like, “well, you could be happy for both. You know, it was a successful season, the most successful regular season ever, and they failed in the first round, but I’m also happy for Bruce!”, not me. Pick aside you babies. And this one I pick Bruce and I couldn’t be happier that this thing turned out this way.

  • Mazz's Thoughts

You did him a favor. You did him a favor. You didn’t do yourself a favor, you did Bruce Cassidy a favor. Because you know what? He probably looks at you right now and says, “well, you guys were soft anyway. The culture was soft. Had I been with that team again, you know what have happened? The same thing”. I mean, how many times can the Bruins change coaches and end up in the same spot? So you have to come back to the players. You have to look at the players now. And for all the criticism of Don Sweeney, and I know felger has touched on this, but for all the criticism of Don Sweeney, they went out and added pieces. They went above and beyond with this team this year. They had two good goalies. They made all kinds of deadline pickups, and they even extended themselves further at the deadline when the Taylor Hall injury happened and they went out and got Tyler Bertuzzi. So they went above and beyond. They were stacked on defense and that’s where they lost the series to Florida. Their defensemen crapped their pants up and down the lineup. So, you know how Bruce Cassidy felt last night? Like you did him a favor.
