The 2023 season for the New England Patriots has finally come to a close. The Patriots 2023 campaign came to an end on Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium as they fell to the New York Jets by a final score of 17-3. The win for the Jets over the Patriots marked their first win over New England since December 27th, 2015, which was a 26-20 overtime victory.
As they do every year in May when the schedule comes out, Felger and Mazz gave their predicted outcome of every game for the Patriots. With the 2023 season officially in the books, we’ll take a look back at their predictions compared to the actual outcome of the games for the Patriots in 2023!
But before the look back, here are some notes on the 2023 season for the Patriots courtesy of NFL.com….
The Patriots went 0-5 in their matchups with NFC teams in 2023. They faced the entire NFC East, as well as the New Orleans Saints during the season.
The Patriots finished with a 2-4 record in the AFC East in 2023. This was the first time since the 2000 season that the Patriots finished with a losing record in their division.
The Patriots finished 1-8 at home during the 2023 season. They went 1-7 in games played at Gillette Stadium and lost in Germany to the Indianapolis Colts, which was considered a home game for New England.
The Patriots managed to score just 236 points in 2023. That was tied for the lowest point total with the 2-14 Carolina Panthers. The Patriots and Panthers 236 total was 30 points behind the next closest team the New York Giants.
Now we look back on the predictions by Felger and Mazz (and Murray) for the 2023 New England Patriots!
