The Felger and Mazz Big Board is officially back for the 2024 NFL Draft! With the New England Patriots slated to draft at 3rd overall in this year’s draft, the Big Board will be more important than ever before! Here are the tackles, which will be a very important position in the draft for the Patriots, that were hit on the Big Board. 

 

But before this year’s selections for tackles on the Big Board, here’s a look at who the Big Board has hit on in the past! 

Jake Bequette – Defensive End – Arkansas – 2012 NFL Draft – 3rd round 90th overall 

Aaron Dobson – Wide Receiver – Marshall – 2013 NFL Draft – 2nd round 59th overall 

Jimmy Garoppolo – Quarterback – Eastern Illinois – 2014 NFL Draft- 2nd round 62nd overall 

Trey Flowers – Defensive End – Arkansas – 2014 NFL Draft – 4th round 101st overall (shown below)

    Here are some strengths and weaknesses courtesy of NFL.com 

    Strengths 

    • Outstanding combination of size, length and proportionality.
    • Fits into his drive blocks with good bend and a lift for leverage.
    • Keeps weight on inside half when sliding out to rusher.

    Weaknesses

    • Very limited experience, with just eight career college starts.
    • Inconsistent in sustaining blocks in the run game.
    • Movements up to second level lack timing and accuracy.

    Here are some strengths and weaknesses courtesy of NFL.com

    Strengths 

    • Athletic in his lower half, with ability to redirect his weight in space.
    • Runs his hips under his hands on drive blocks and kick-outs
    • Well-timed combo blocks feature patience and pop.

    Weaknesses

    • Long-armed defensive ends stab and separate from him against the run.
    • Tendency to stall feet during punch contact when opening side door.
    • Allows weight to creep too far outside in pass slides.

    Here are some strengths and weaknesses courtesy of NFL.com

    Strengths 

    • Sets laterally and squeezes B-gap when he senses twist coming.
    • Uses length effectively to stave off early speed-to-power charges.
    • Decent fluidity getting from secure block to linebacker on climb-ups.

    Weaknesses

    • Weight drifts outside in pass sets, opening him to a plethora of inside counters.
    • Loses proper footwork when panicking in a race to the top of the rush.
    • Lacks lateral quickness and pad level to reach NFL 3-techniques.
