Is Jim Montgomery on the hot seat?

Felger: What was your main takeaway from it? Because I have one that ties in to the accountable thing that you just said with Montgomery.

Mazz: So I have a lot of...you go ahead....

Felger: Montgomery's on the hot seat. Montgomery's the fall guy. Montgomery's job is in jeopardy. That's what I think. And I think that's the message that Charlie Jacobs conveyed in this thing. Don Sweeney, not so much, he said at one point he's not looking to make any coaching changes when he was asked about the staff. But Montgomery's part of the staff. But the whole thing I thought Montgomery was squirming today. I thought Montgomery was nervous. I thought Montgomery knows that he was in the spotlight as it relates to the guys up at the dais. You know fans and media is another thing. I think most fans and media do blame him. But of more importance to him is that he knows that if they want to throw someone under the bus for this, or there's a fall guy, I'm the guy. He knows that. He knew it. I thought he was nervous up there. I thought he felt like the spotlight was on him. And he reflected that. And that's why he says accountable, "because I'm accountable to this", he's not talking to us and the fans so much as Charlie. But the Jacobs, if they've done one thing well over their decades of ownership it's blame and fire coaches. It's what they've done. It's what they've done most consistently and is probably their calling card. They've owned the team for 50 effin years and they've had three general managers. They've had how many coaches? So they are conditioned as owners to get off the plane from Buffalo or off the boat in the Bahamas or off the horse in Wellington, check in with their general manager, have their manager throw the coach under the bus, have them say, "well, that sounds good and fire the coach" and this is the Bruins experience that we've had here now for half a century. And that's what it felt like today.
