On Tuesday, a series of tweets were released by an analytic account that said David Pastrnak was hesitant to re-sign in Boston with the Bruins. On Wednesday’s Felger and Mazz program, Felger made it known that he thinks Pastrnak will be re-signing with the Bruins.

Felger: What my take is on this…yeah. Bull crap, bull crap, bologne, bull crap.

Jim Murray: While you yell at Andy and Rono.

Okay, bull crap. Of course he wants to win. I’m not telling you he doesn’t want to win. He’s negotiating. And my guess is he doesn’t like the initial number that the Bruins threw out there. And so what he’s saying is, “well, I don’t know how good you’re going to be. I don’t know. Am I have a chance to win a cup there? I don’t know”. But I have seen no indication, and if anyone else has, tell me, of any current Bruins not wanting to stay. Knowing full well what the roster looks like. I feel like I’m about to go on a rant again. Name me a player who’s left here because he didn’t think they had a chance to win here. He wanted to go win somewhere else. Every Bruin I can think of most recent vintage has stayed and stayed for less. Everyone. Everyone. Charlie McAvoy, about to be a Norris finalist, about to be one of the best defenseman in the league, Last year had a chance to go into his “walk year” to leave in unrestricted free agency, make more money and pick his team. You know what he did? He re-signed. Torey Kurg wanted to stay.

Mazz: Yeah, but not for the number.

Felger: He wanted to stay. They don’t even really offer him anything. Go back and look at the reporting. They never even really gave him a competitive offer. No, they were never even close. And he didn’t leave because he thought he could win somewhere else, they weren’t offered him a real contract. Guys have left in free agency. I’m not telling you…..

Mazz: Okay, so you lost guys on the idea of winning.

Felger: I’m talking about a guy who says I didn’t want to be….I didn’t think that was a place we could win. That wasn’t Krug. They didn’t even offer him anything.

Jim Murray: No, there isn’t one guy.

Felger: But look, Charlie McAvoy knows the landscape. He can see the roster. He had a chance last year to go into unrestricted free agency, and he re-signed. Patrice Bergeron is coming back to play hockey. He could have a pick of maybe ten different teams where he could have probably tripled the money he made from the Bruins, maybe quadrupled. He made two and a half this year, plus two and a half in incentives. There’s probably 10 million for him somewhere out there over two or three years. He chose to stay here. It’s the only place he would play. David Krejci could have gone anywhere he wanted in the league. Probably tripled what he’s making. He’s making a million bucks. This is the only place he wanted to go. Tuukka Rask would only come back and play in one place. Brad Marchand had a chance to make a bag and be a free agent. He signed here for less. Name me a guy. They just traded for Hampus Lindholm, who was going into unrestricted free agency. All he had to do was play out a month in the playoffs, he’d be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, could pick his team. What did he do? He re-signed. Everyone re-signs. They all want to play here. I don’t know why. I mean, I wouldn’t. If I were Bergeron, I would have looked around the league. I think there would’ve been some really cool spots for him to go play and be a one or two year rental and really have a chance to win a cup and make a lot more money. He didn’t even look. Didn’t even care to. Name me a guy. Krejci, Bergeron, Marchand, Bergeron the first time. Rask, McAvoy. Lindholm They all want to stay. Chara. They had to pry him out of here with a crowbar. He’d come back in a second. These guys all want to stay. And I think, you know, that’s partly that’s bad news because I think they’re too comfortable here or there’s something about they just want to be here because they like the schools or the golf club or their buddies or whatever. It’s like that their first priority to win. There’s just something about it’s a really good place to play. But, so now David Pastrnak is going to go because he thinks this is not a place to win. Lie, lie, lie. You don’t like their first number and you don’t want to say it, which I don’t blame you, because that makes you look like a money grubber. But what you then say is, well, 9 million a year. I mean, really, you should be making ten or whatever. Well, I don’t know if you guys have a chance to win. I don’t know. I’m I’m going to hold up. But the real answer is it’s the contract. And this ties to Brady. Sorry. Rant over. It’s almost always the contract. It’s almost always the contract. Almost always. And it’s the contract here. If you give this guy the bag, I guarantee you if you give him ten million a year, ten and a half million a year, he’s going to look at your roster and say, Yeah, I think we have a chance to win. Bull crap. I don’t believe him.
