  • Mazz thinks they needed it

    Felger: Alright, Mazz. You happy?

    Mazz: Yup.

    Felger: Go ahead.

Mazz: This is what you need. You got to have these stretches. You got to have this adversity. I’m sorry. You’re either going to respond to it or you’re not. So you might as well have some during the regular season so you can show whether or not you’re capable of handling it as opposed to having it in the playoffs and then cratering because you’re not ready for it. I look at the regular season as conditioning for the playoffs. That’s the way I look at it. If it’s too easy, that’s no good. And so these last three games, the Bruins have scored six goals. They’ve been outscored 11 to 6. They lost yesterday 4 to 1, the final goal was an empty netter for Carolina, but even so, the Bruins were never really a threat until very late in that game when they got a six-on-four, they were they were down 3 to 1, if they pop in there, then, you know, maybe they got a chance to pull it out with a few minutes to go. But even so, I thought Carolina dominated the game in the parts that I saw. And I think this is good for them. And you know what? They have one game left before the break. They got Toronto on Wednesday night, then they have ten days off. And what I would like to see is them answer and not have to spend ten days stewing over the fact that they’ve lost four out of four in a row.

  • Murray Doesn't like the losing streak

Jim Murray: I don’t. Don’t put this on me. I wasn’t rooting for this. And in fact, I blahhhed Mazz, I have the text to prove it, I tweeted it when I thought they won after Past rnak’s goal on Saturday in Florida. That game was hysterical. too. Florida scored on themselves and stuff like, you’re going to steal one here. And then Carlo gets pushed off the puck bing, bang, boom, second left, tie game, and then it goes into overtime and it’s over. It’s like a matter of minutes I’m like what the hell just happened? So unlike Mazz, if you do think there’s something positive to this, I think the spot sucks because what if they do lose Wednesday and then they get to stew all this time? It’s a bad spot for them to be losing games like this. Yesterday they just laid an egg. That thing Saturday, I was like, “Oh, that was an awful loss”.

  • Felger: The Bruins sucked against Carolina

Felger: Well, so last night was different. Last night they sucked. They sucked. So the Tampa loss: good game, up and down, competitive, Tampa just skated past at the end of the third period. You sort of let down at the very end for some reason. Good game you let down in the last 7 minutes or so and lost but you know that was a a good competitive night. Florida, yeah you got lucky, but okay you know you lose on a bad bounce at the end of the game and in overtime, alright. Last night they sucked. They sucked. You watching those power plays? They couldn’t even get into the zone. I think there were 0-for-6.

Jim Murray: They’re 1-for-19 on the power play in their recent games.

Felger: Okay, there you go. But it’s not just the 0-fers, it’s they can’t get out of their own way. They’re running into each other. Some of their power plays, they never even gained the zone it feels like. So now they are officially….

    Jim Murray: The Bruins.

Felger: Yeah, well, what I’m trying to say is the previous two losses were sort of bounces of the puck. Competitive games bounces went your way, didn’t go your way that sort of thing. Last night, outclassed and smoked by a good team. I like that Carolina team.
