Felger & Mazz

The first round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft wasn’t necessarily the brightest spot in the history of the Boston Bruins. However, on Thursday’s Felger and Mazz, Felger gave a positive spin for the Bruins on the 2015 draft.

  • Listen to the whole segment here:

  • Was the 2015 NHL Entry Draft a total bust for the Bruins?

Felger: You got this Pavel Zacha for Eric Haula, who was a nice player for you last year, but certainly not gangbusters. I think Zacha brings a lot more to the table with a lot more upside, by the way. And you got him pretty much straight up and he’s only making just, what, like $3 million bucks this year? You just signed him to a four year extension at just under five. If he’s playing the way he’s playing, that’s a good number.

    Mazz: It is.

Felger: Okay, if he’s playing the way that he’s playing. And also, again, listening to the Beetle this afternoon, they had a caller, and this is interesting, who said it also, you know, helps Don Sweeney recover from that 2015 NHL draft. He’s actually making amends for the 2015 NHL draft because you know who went six overall and the 2015 draft?

    Mazz: Zacha?

Felger: Pavel Zacha. So Pavel Zacha went six overall in that draft and it’s sort of like now Don Sweeney has actually….

Jim Murray: Won the 2015 draft?

    Felger: I wouldn’t say that.

    Jim Murray: No, I know.

Felger: But, you know, I don’t know if they’re sort of keeping score like that or playing that game, “well, how do you like us in the 2015 draft? Well, I don’t know. I feel like we’re doing pretty good in the 2015 draft since we have Jake DeBrusk, Brandon Carlo, Pavel Zacha”. Oh, by the way, you want to do another one? You know who’s drafted in the second round 39th overall in the 2015 draft?

    Mazz: Swayman?

    Felger: A.J. Greer.

    Mazz: Oh.

Felger: Who had another snipe last night. Like that was a that was a snipe. It is interesting. They do from that draft have Pavel Zacha, Brandon Carlo and Jake Debrusk. It’s not a total whiff.

Jim Murray: Just took a long way to get there.

Felger: Yeah, it took a long way to get there.
