I title this weeks ramblings as “Things I Think I Think” as a tribute to long time NFL reporter and big “J” journalist Peter King who announced a level of retirement. I’m assuming we’ve not heard the last from Peter King as a voice on football but if we have, Peter King is the best NFL reporter / journalist do to it in my life time. For those who don’t know, Peter spent 29-years at Sports Illustrated writing the Monday Morning Quarterback when SI was a force in the media world. MMQB is now the work of Burt Breer. Peter King was a regular guest when I was producing in my past life with Dale and Neumy and then Dale and Holley. Peter King was always first class to me so that’s my bias. He always communicated well to me in every dealing, when he lived in Boston I spent time with him at his house. I know Patriots fans hate him for his reporting on Patriots topics because they were anti-Patriots reports, which doesn’t mean they were wrong, just that YOU didn’t like the reporting. Please use the “YOU” with Felger tone. (Smiling face emoji) Peter always had information, too much information at times in his writing and in his over the air reporting but a high percentage of the information was from people on the record. Peter had access to people and would get much of that information on the record. Peter was also a huge baseball fan and for a few years as payment for doing a weekly hit, he was paid in Red Sox – Yankees tickets for games at Fenway Park. I think a few years we sent him checks and he never cashed them or returned them to the station. Peter King was a good dude and Peter King goes down in history as the best football writer in America! Happy retirement*!
