Jeremy Swayman is The Peterson School’s Hardest Working Player of the Week
Things had the ability to truly go sideways for the Bruins this past week.
With reigning Vezina Trophy winner Linus Ullmark knocked out of play in the overtime of a loss to the Coyotes with a scary-looking lower-body injury, and with the white-hot Panthers on their heels for the top spot in the Atlantic Division, the Bruins needed someone to step up in a major way.
Luckily for Boston, Jeremy Swayman was ready and willing, making him an easy pick for the Hardest Working Player of the Week, as brought to you by The Peterson School.
Given the next for an impressive four starts in eight days (and making five appearances overall), the 25-year-old helped Boston earn at least one point in every game over that span, with a 2-0-2 record in his starts.
Swayman was impressive even in his defeats (and against the two most recent Stanley Cup champs, no less), with a 33-of-36 performance in a shootout loss to the Avalanche on Jan. 8, and a 23-of-25 effort against the Golden Knights in an overtime loss just three nights later.

Swayman also helped the Bruins end their road trip on a high note, as a 20-save performance against the Blues last Saturday allowed the Bruins to feel good about their road trip with five of a possible eight points banked away.
And with the Bruins back in action just two days later, the crease belonged to Swayman yet again, and the Alaskan-born Swayman turned aside all 31 shots faced in a 3-0 home-ice win over the Devils.
Overall, Swayman’s five appearances in eight days was tied with the Isles’ Ilya Sorokin for the most in the league over that eight-day span, while his 2.18 goals against average was second-best and his .922 save percentage ranked third among a group of eight goalies with four starts over that span.
Swayman was also officially named an NHL All-Star for the first time in his career in the midst of this hot run.
