Bruce Cassidy named Atlantic Division coach for 2020 NHL All-Star Game

The Boston Bruins will have at least three reps in St. Louis for the 2020 NHL All-Star Game, as Bruce Cassidy was named the head coach of the Atlantic Division squad on Friday.
Cassidy’s selection comes as a result of simple arithmetic, as the Bruins have the highest point percentage among all Atlantic teams, sending Cassidy to the first All-Star Game of his coaching career.
But the honor is certainly deserved, too, as the Bruins are tied for the most points in all of hockey, and have essentially already locked up the No. 1 spot in their division barring some sort of epic 2016-esque collapse.
The Bruins also lead the league in goals against per game (2.40), 10th in goals per game (3.31), are second on the penalty kill (85.4 percent), and are third on the power play (27.2 percent).
In addition to Cassidy, the Atlantic Division roster will be captained by Bruins winger David Pastrnak, while B’s netminder Tuukka Rask will make his second All-Star Game appearance. Patrice Bergeron is also eligible to get voted in by the fans as the last man in (though it’s probably in the Black and Gold’s best interest that he not get those votes).
The 2020 NHL All-Star Game will be Sat., Jan. 25.
