It’s almost that time of year again, when we welcome our beloved Elves on the Shelf for the days leading up to Christmas.

The Elf On The Shelf makes his or her arrival just after Thanksgiving.  I know families that welcome their Elf on the day after Thanksgiving or, as the book would have it, on December 1st.

For those not familiar with The Elf On The Shelf, I’ll give you a little background first.  Families across the world welcome their Elf on the Shelf each holiday season.  These special elves are Santa’s messengers who help him manage his naughty and nice list.  These magical elves take note of the behavior of their children and report back to Santa nightly at the North Pole.  The elves cannot be touched or they will lose their magic.  They return from the North Pole each morning for the children to find.  Some elves are mischievous and get into a little bit of trouble.

Since the elves are around for a few weeks, it can be hard for parents to come up with new and fun ideas each day.  To help with that you’ll find a 24 day idea kit on the list.

In their original form the elves are stiff and can’t be changed into various positions.  Check out the Elf upgrade kit to give you more options for what your elf can do.

If your family is new to this tradition, I’ve gone ahead and included the Elf on the Shelf itself, that comes with the story book.
