Bruins winger David Pastrnak has the personality for the big screen.

But with hockey being his true calling (and, man, is that putting it lightly this season), the All-Star has to find different ways to showcase that side of himself. Like, oh I don’t know, doing an Adam Sandler cosplay at the 2023 NHL All-Star Skills Competition down in Sunrise this past Friday night.

• In addition to the putter and sending the puck to its home — it wasn’t too good for its home, as we learned —Pastrnak’s homage to ’96 Sandler was even complete with Linus Ullmark playing the role of Happy’s caddy.

  Listen, say what you will about the Skills Competition and All-Star weekend in general — but please remember that All-Star Games have never been made for adults — but talk about these guys knowing their base.

• “That was kind of a quick idea,” Pastrnak said of the attire and act (via the Bruins’ official website). “The All-Star happens quick and obviously ‘Happy Gilmore’ is rocking the Boston Bruins jersey, so it was an easy choice.”

  The tribute was enough to earn Pastrnak 38 of 40 points on the breakaway challenge, which placed him second behind Alex Ovechkin by the night’s end.

  Pastrnak even brought out the Happy Gilmore riding the bull celebration.

• With the Skills Competition behind them, Pastrnak and Ullmark will suit up for the 2023 All-Star Game, which begins Saturday at 3 p.m. with the Central Division vs. Pacific Division going head-to-head before the Metropolitan Division and Atlantic Division drop the puck at 4 p.m.

  The Atlantic Division, which did not have a single defenseman selected to its roster, will be coached by Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery. The only thing Montgomery does not plan on doing with his defender-less lineup complexion in this three-on-three tournament? Letting David Pastrnak play defense.
