Jake DeBrusk was already on track to return after the All-Star Break. Now, the Bruins are being as definitive as they can about the winger’s status.

Head coach Jim Montgomery told reporters Tuesday that DeBrusk is almost certainly going to return in the Bruins’ first game after the All-Star break, at home against the Washington Capitals on Feb. 11. That will mark 13 games missed for DeBrusk before getting back into the lineup.

“I’d be shocked if he doesn’t play,” Montgomery said of DeBrusk against the Capitals, per WBZ-TV’s Dan Roche.

  • So, at this point, DeBrusk hasn’t had any setbacks in his recovery from a broken leg suffered during the Winter Classic against the Pittsburgh Penguins. That appears to be the only thing stopping him from returning to the active lineup after the team’s bye week and the All-Star break, which runs from Feb. 2-10.

First, the B’s have to get through one more game without DeBrusk, when they take on the Toronto Maple Leafs Wednesday night, in the last game of what’s been a rough Eastern Conference road trip. DeBrusk, meanwhile, practiced in a red non-contact jersey on Tuesday at Warrior Ice Arena.
