The Boston Bruins fell to 29-9-9 on the season after dropping a 3-2 decision to the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday night at TD Garden.
Jordan Martinook scored the eventual game-winner for the Hurricanes with just 2:27 left in the third period, taking advantage of a Bruins defensive breakdown in the neutral zone and finishing on a breakaway. Brad Marchand scored both goals for the Bruins in the losing effort, in which they came back from down 2-0 to tie the game early in the third.
Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark stopped 30 of 33 Hurricanes shots (.909) in the loss. He’s 1-1 since returning to the lineup from a lower body injury.

The teams played nearly a full period without a goal, but the Hurricanes lit the lamp within the final two minutes of the first. It came off a wrist shot by Martin Necas from the high slot, as he whipped it through traffic and past Ullmark to give Carolina a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
