The streak is over.
It took the Golden Knights 65 minutes of play and a five-round shootout, but the Bruins were indeed handed their first home loss of the 2022-23 season with Monday’s 4-3 shootout final at TD Garden.
But it was an effort that saw the Bruins refuse to go down without a fight, as they overcame a three-goal hole, and forced overtime with a third-period power-play marker from Taylor Hall.
Here are the 98.5 The Sports Hub (dot com) 3 Stars of the game from a Monday loss to the Golden Knights…
No. 3 Star: Taylor Hall

If you’re looking for a standout on the Boston side of things in this, winger Taylor Hall brought it all to the table (and in all three zones) for the Black and Gold in a losing effort.
Out there for 16:29 of time on ice, Hall came through the game-tying power-play goal in the third period, and finished with four shots on goal by the night’s end.
His four shots were third among all Boston forwards, with only David Krejci (six) and David Pastrnak (five) landing more on the Vegas goal among B’s forwards, and Hall led the Bruins in both individual scoring chances and individual high-danger chances at all-situation play, according to NaturalStatTrick.
No. 2 Star: Paul Cotter

The Golden Knights were forced to play this contest without top-line fixture Jack Eichel. It’d be a seemingly devastating loss for the Knights — especially given Eichel’s success on Garden ice — but the loss of Eichel meant a promotion for Paul Cotter, and the 23-year-old delivered with a two-goal performance in the winning effort.

No. 1 Star: Logan Thompson

The Bruins had a feeling it was going to take a monster effort to put an end to their streak, and the Golden Knights’ Logan Thompson came through with said monster performance, with stops on 40-of-43 shots faced in 65 minutes of play along with saves on all five Boston shooters in the shootout.

— Vegas Golden Knights (@GoldenKnights) December 6, 2022Thompson was also hit with 12 high-danger shots at all-situation play, according to NaturalStatTrick, and stopped 10 of them. That’s about as strong of a showing as you could have hoped for given the Bruins’ goal-scoring success out of the gate this season.
