Through 15 games, the Boston Bruins are not only the best team in hockey from a points and points percentage standpoint, but they remain a team without a losing streak to their name.

On Buffalo ice on the heels of a 3-2 overtime loss to the Canadiens this past Saturday, the Bruins straight-up steamrolled the Sabres in what was perhaps their most dominant performance yet, with goals from five different scorers in a 5-2 win.

The Bruins even held a 5-0 lead in this game for a stretch until a pair of Victor Olofsson garbage-time goals helped ease the minds of those Buffalo-based box score readers.

  • Here are the 98.5 The Sports Hub (dot com) 3 Stars from a win over the Sabres

  • No. 3 Star: Brandon Carlo

  • It’s been one hell of a start to the season for the Bruins’ Brandon Carlo.

And Tuesday came with something tangible for the 6-foot-6 defender, who recorded his first goal of the season in the Black and Gold’s blowout victory.

Beyond the goal, Carlo finished with a block and a plus-2 rating in 19:34 of action. And at five-on-five, Carlo was the Black and Gold’s most productive skater, as Boston held a 13-5 on-ice edge in shots with Carlo out there.

  • No. 2 Star: David Pastrnak

  • One goal and two assists. Just another day at the office for David Pastrnak.

But seriously, you wanna talk about a sick goal? Look at Pastrnak’s first-period strike, with Pastrnak flipped to left wing for a rush and still connecting with a one-time, from-his-knees shot. That’s a goal that very few players in this league can score (and make look easy), and Pastrnak does both.

With the three-point outing, Pastrnak is now up to 11 goals and 24 points through 15 games.

  • No. 1 Star: Linus Ullmark

  • I’m admittedly not sure if Bruins goaltender Linus Ullmark is big on ‘revenge’ per se, but his numbers against his former club would tell you that this man runs on revenge.

A Sabre for the first six years of his NHL career before joining the Bruins on a four-year, $20 million contract, Tuesday night was Ullmark’s fourth career head-to-head with Buffalo. And with a 32-of-34 performance, Ullmark improved to 4-0-0 with a .953 save percentage in four showdowns with the Sabres. That is just sick.

And though the Bruins provided Ullmark with five goals of support (three through 20 minutes of play, five through 40 minutes of play), Ullmark had to be on top of his game with 13 first-period saves. The Sabres would’ve loved to have made this a run-and-gun type of game given their offense, but Ullmark refused.

With the victory, Ullmark improved his 2023-24 record to 6-1-1, while his save percentage jumped to .928.
