Pavel Zacha is The Peterson School’s Hardest Working Player of the Week
After a bye week and the NHL’s All-Star break, the Boston Bruins got back to work with a three-game week.
And the rest turned out to be exactly what Bruins center Pavel Zacha needed, with three points in three games, and this week’s nod as the Peterson School’s Hardest Working Player of the Week.
In what was an otherwise forgettable, downright awful night for the Bruins last Tuesday against the Flames, it was Zacha who came through with the only positive of the evening with a power-play shot that beat the Flames’ Jacob Markstrom for the Black and Gold’s only goal of the evening. The goal, which was Zacha’s 11th of the season, was the headline of an evening that also saw Zacha record one hit, one block, and record wins in 10 of his 15 total battles at the dot.

And when the Bruins bounced back on Thursday night against the West-best Canucks, it was Zacha who led the way, with one goal and an assist in the winning effort.
Zacha finished the week as one of three Bruins skaters to record three points (Charlie Coyle and David Pastrnak were the others), and Zacha was the only Bruin to record two goals this week.
Beyond the scoring totals, Zacha also managed to win a team-high four shorthanded faceoffs, and his 4-for-6 mark at the dot with the Bruins down a man was the best on the B’s. Expanding that beyond Boston, Zacha’s 67 percent success rate at the dot on the penalty kill was the second-best percentage among all NHLers (minimum six shorthanded faceoffs).
Zacha, in his second year with the Bruins, has totaled 12 goals and 33 points through 48 games this season, and is currently paced for his second straight season of at least 20 goals and 50 points.
The Hardest Working Player of the Week is sponsored by The Peterson School. The Peterson School is now enrolling for their spring semester in Woburn, Westwood, Worcester, and Haverhill. To learn more, visit petersonschool.com.
