Felger & Mazz

As a 28 year old fan of the Boston Bruins, they have broken my heart countless times. Here’s my ranking of some of those heartbreaks.

  • 10. 2012 1st ROUND LOSS TO THE WASHINGTON CAPITALS

  • This one is low on the list because I never felt that they were going to repeat as Champions. However, finishing as the 2nd seed in the conference and bowing out in the first round against a weaker team will always hurt.

  • 9. 2020 BUBBLE LOSS TO THE TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING

  • This one didn’t sting a lot because I always felt that Tampa was winning it all in 2020 after their epic 2019 collapse. However, the Bruins could’ve kept up with them and they just didn’t.

  • 8. 2004 1ST ROUND LOSS TO THE MONTREAL CANADIENS

  • 2004 is low on the list because 9-year-old Kevin wasn’t completely obsessed with hockey at the time. But the pain was still there. Losing to Montreal in game 7 at home will never not hurt.

  • 7. 2009 2ND ROUND LOSS TO THE CAROLINA HURRICANES

  • This was the year in my mind. The Bruins were really good. They were going to play in the Stanley Cup Final against Joe Thornton and the San Jose Sharks. Little did I know, it was just the first of many heartbreaks to come with this new “core” of players.

  • 6. TRADING JOE THORNTON AND SERGEI SAMSONOV

  • I know it had to be done. The team was about to rebuild and they needed to move off pieces. But the Bruins trading away my two favorite players really hurt.

  • 5. 2013 STANLEY CUP FINAL LOSS TO THE CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS

2013 NHL Stanley Cup Final - Game Six

  • This one is only at number 5 because I never really felt like the Bruins were going to win that Final. The Chicago Blackhawks were better….and healthier. I’m not using injuries as an excuse, but when you take a better team and add that they are also healthier, you can realize that it just wasn’t in the cards. Game 6 sucked though.

  • 4. 2014 2ND ROUND LOSS TO THE MONTREAL CANADIENS

Montreal Canadiens v Boston Bruins - Game Seven

  • Game 7 at home against the Montreal Canadiens. The next opponent up was a weak New York Rangers team. The return trip to the Stanley Cup Final was right in front of them. Instead they choked at home again to Montreal.

  • 3. 2010 3-0 BLOWN LEAD AGAINST THE PHILADELPHIA FLYERS

Philadelphia Flyers v Boston Bruins - Game Seven

BOSTON – MAY 14: Daniel Carcillo #13, Danny Briere #48, Claude Giroux #28 and Matt Carle #25 of the Philadelphia Flyers celebrate the win over the Boston Bruins in Game Seven of the Eastern Conference Semifinals during the 2010 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at TD Garden on May 14, 2010 in Boston, Massachusetts. The Flyers defeated the Bruins 4-3. (Photo by Elsa/Getty Images)

  • Not much needs to be said here. 3-0 in the series and 3-0 in game 7. They also robbed us of an Eastern Conference Final against the Montreal Canadiens. Instead it was another choke job.

  • 2. 2023 1ST ROUND LOSS TO THE FLORIDA PANTHERS

  • 65 regular season wins and all those stupid regular season records…gone in the 1st round. The latest choke job by this group of Boston Bruins.

  • 1. 2019 STANLEY CUP FINALS LOSS TO THE ST. LOUIS BLUES

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS - JUNE 12: Ivan Barbashev #49 of the St. Louis Blues holds the Stanley Cup following the Blues victory over the Boston Bruins at TD Garden on June 12, 2019 in Boston, Massachusetts. (Photo by Bruce Bennett/Getty Images)

  • Game 7 at home against a team that was worse than them. Choked a Stanley Cup away in front of the home crowd. I’ll never recover from that loss. Never.
