Bulls beat Celtics despite Tatum’s first career triple-double
The Chicago Bulls snapped the Celtics’ six-game winning streak in a 102-96 win on Monday without starting guard Zach LaVine. Jayson Tatum scored his first career triple-double in the defeat.
When Tatum’s shot wasn’t falling, he found a way to impact the game in other ways with 13 rebounds and 10 assists. But the Celtics were shorthanded to begin with as they played without Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart. So when Tatum scores only 14 points while shooting 3-for-17 from the field, it’s going to be hard for the C’s to win.
Bulls trade deadline addition Nikola Vucevic led the way in LaVine’s absence, leading all scorers with 29 points and pulling down a team-high nine rebounds.
Tatum and the Celtics get two days off before they get a chance to bounce back, when they face the Phoenix Suns on Thursday at TD Garden.
