With Patrice Bergeron recently announcing his retirement and David Krejci possibly doing the same, it made me think back to some of the greatest Boston Bruins I remember being able to watch play. Below is my list of the greatest Bruins I’ve had the pleasure of watching play!
*This list is compiled with players who I can actually remember watching play on the ice. It does not include players that played during my lifetime that I can’t remember playing.
10. Charlie McAvoy

Some may feel that Charlie McAvoy is too young to make this list. However, through just six NHL seasons and seven Stanley Cup Playoff runs McAvoy has already proven his worth to being one of the greatest players I’ve seen wear the spoked-B. From watching McAvoy make his NHL debut in the 2017 playoffs and immediately making an impact, to him evolving into one of the best defenseman in the NHL, the 2016 first round pick is one of my favorites to ever wear a Boston Bruins jersey.
9. Milan Lucic

Milan Lucic made an immediate impact with the Bruins when he made his NHL debut in 2007-08 as the big power forward was a prototypical big, bad Bruin. Lucic played a major role in helping the team become a contender and ultimately win the Stanley Cup in 2011. His consistency of being one of the best power forwards in the NHL from 2007-2015 made him one of the best Bruins I’ve ever seen in my life.
8. Joe Thornton

Joe Thornton didn’t spend too many years as a member of the Boston Bruins from what I can remember, but what I remember from Thornton helps him make my list. Thornton was the best forward on the team when I started watching games and him being traded broke me as a kid. I wish the prime years of Jumbo Joe were in Boston, but he’s still one of the best players I’ve seen in the black and gold
