With Banner 18 soon to be raised to the TD Garden rafters, the quest for a repeat in Boston will see the Celtics bring almost the entire crew from their title-winning squad back to town for the 2024-25 season.

But they'll also have an addition to their crew, with six-year NBA veteran Lonnie Walker IV signed to a one-year deal by the club Wednesday night. Word of Walker's deal with the Celtics was first reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

https://x.com/wojespn/status/1828949505711939938 A 6-foot-4 guard, Walker spent the 2023-24 season with Brooklyn, averaging 9.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 17:26 per night over a 58-game run with the Nets. In addition to his averages, the 25-year-old Walker shot 42.3 percent from the floor (38.4 percent from three-point range), and had 13 efforts with at least 19 points, including a 20-point performance on an 8-for-12 shooting night against the Celtics back on Nov. 10.

Playing for a relatively awful Brooklyn team, Walker's best outing of the year came with a 26-point and 6-rebound outing against the Sixers on Nov. 19, which was headlined by a season-high six makes from beyond the three-point line in what finished as a 22-point loss for the Nets.

More on the Celtics...

Walker only adds more depth to what's an already loaded backcourt between Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, and Jaylen Brown, and gives the Celtics another notable scoring threat off the bench. And it might be just plain lethal now when you consider the lift the C's were already getting from bench scoring threats such as Sam Hauser.

What's interesting to note about Walker's contract is that it's apparently an Exhibit 10 contract, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania, meaning that it's not exactly a guarantee that Walker makes Boston's roster.

A first-round pick in 2018, Walker has averaged 9.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game over a 322-game NBA career that’s included runs in San Antonio and with the Lakers before his one-year stint in Brooklyn.
