On Thursday, defensive back Jack Jones addressed rumors surrounding his alleged confrontation with head coach Bill Belichick, which resulted in the 25-year-old being suspended for the final two games of his rookie season.

Let's recap: Jones's recovery from a knee injury he sustained in Week 14 against the Arizona Cardinals was reportedly slower than expected. The club then announced a two-week suspension. Shortly after the suspension was announced, rumors began circulating.

One rumor, mentioned by theMMQB.com's Albert Breer, claimed that Jones had talked back to head coach Bill Belichick. This got back to Jones, prompting him to respond on social media.

According to Breer, speaking on Sports Sunday on January 8, it was reported that Jones showed tardiness and missed rehab sessions. There were even claims that the defensive back talked back to Bill Belichick about it, which led to the head coach addressing the issue during a team meeting.

On Thursday, Jones denied that he “mouthed off at Bill” and called out Breer after commenters identifying him as the source of the rumors.

During this morning's Toucher & Rich radio program, Breer responded to the Twitter drama.

"I don't know. It sort of came out of nowhere. I think he blocked me on Twitter. So there was something where I brought up this stuff after he got drafted where I think he blocked me. This is my first rodeo or something like this, you know? I know when sensitive inside information when you're dealing with it, it's to be taken very seriously. Obviously, I do that when I'm reporting stories like this. I certainly stand by my information, but I'm not going to handle it publicly with a player or a coach. I prefer to handle these things privately. I can promise you guys that when something like this comes to my attention, I do handle it privately."
