Boston: The Wilbur Is Set To Be Full Of Comedic Laughs
There are going to be a lot of comedy shows at the Wilbur Theatre for the rest of this year. Part of the beauty of this venue is the variety of shows they host. From concerts to podcasts to comedy, this spot will be a consistent source of entertainment.
Upon visiting the theatre’s website, you will immediately notice Comedian Jim Gaffigan has a strong hold on the month of April. That’s because Gaffigan has eight shows lined up between now and April 21.
Located at 246 Tremont St., the Wilbur has a Boston history dating back to 1914. “The Wilbur was the first Boston theatre to draw its inspiration from American Colonial architecture rather than from European sources,” they explain.
However, the past 20 years have really shaped the direction of what gets booked here. That’s because the venue was “recently revitalized by former Comedy Connection owner Bill Blumenreich starting in July 2008,” which has resulted in many A-list comedians making this a necessary stop on the tour schedule.
In addition to comedy, the Wilbur also is flexible enough to be the stage for other intimate settings. For example, former Patriots receiver Julian Edelman will be bringing his podcast “Games With Names” to the Wilbur for a live taping at the end of August.
This show, which gets into the backstories behind legendary sporting events that are now known by nicknames, is also set to have local special guests. Prior to that though, there will be a lot of other opportunities to belly laugh from the Wilbur seats.
