Cerrone Battle: If the Patriots like Drake Maye, they should take him at #3
Cerrone Battle joined Felger and Mazz from Drake Maye’s Pro-Day in North Carolina and discussed the performance of the QB. Battle, who has been against Maye in the past, says the Patriots should take him at #3 if he’s available.
Drake Maye at 3?
Mazz: Just quickly your opinion on him, because you’ve been down on Drake Maye. Did your opinion of him change to today?
Cerrone Battle: I can see why people are big on him. I’m down on him because of the in-game stuff and because of the big game situations and stuff like that. But as far as arm talent and all that stuff, I can absolutely see why people are blown away by him. He was making throws with guys in his face, rolling backwards 50-yards downfield like it was nothing. I mean, the arm talent was there. But again, there’s no defense and all that other stuff, but I completely understand why some of the scouts, experts, and whoever, the national experts are big on him because he does have the arm talent, the size, and all that other stuff. And like I said, the NFL people are “ooohing” and “ahhing” here. So, my thought is the whole “wait, tradeback, and sit back in the draft and all that stuff”, I think if you sit back on any of these quarterbacks, if these guys are all that good and they look at them on the same level, other people will leapfrog you and take these quarterbacks and you’ll be sitting there with Sam Howell at 11, and I wouldn’t risk that at all. If you like this kid and you’re sitting there at three. Take him. Just take them.
Felger: You’ve changed your mind already? You see one session….
Cerrone Battle: I saw it in person. I’m standing 20 yards from the kid! It was hard not to be impressed. I was standing 20yards from Bailey Zappe and I thought I was better than him. So I understand why their blown away. Does that mean he’s going to be a great quarterback? Absolutely not, I’m not an expert at all. But I saw it with my own eyes in front of me. And I completely understand.

Mock Draft Mailbag 1.0: It's officially draft season
With the initial wave of NFL free agency in the books, it’s officially NFL Draft season. As of Monday, it’s 38 days until the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft begins on April 25.
Now that the draft is the next major even on the NFL calendar, every Monday from today through draft week will be Mock Draft Monday here on 985TheSportsHub.com, powered by U.S. Pavement. We’ll have some sort of mock draft content to start the week, each week.

To kick off Mock Draft Mondays this week, we’ve got the return of the Mock Draft Mailbag! For those who missed its debut last year, this is like the Patriots Mailbag we do during the regular season but instead of sending questions, people submit mock drafts for me to react to. I see you guys replying to my tweets with mock drafts all year an unfortunately can’t respond to them all, so this is my attempt to get to as many as I can.
As we go through, there may be picks or trades that overlap from mock to mock. I’ll comment on a player, pick, trade, etc. the first time it comes up, but know that comment carries over to other mocks that present the same situation even if I don’t highlight it again. The goal is to try to highlight as many players and scenarios as possible, using part of as many possible mock drafts as you guys sent in.
If you missed submitting a mock this week, don’t worry! There will be at least two more Mock Draft Mailbags later this spring. For now though, let’s get started with 2024 Mock Draft Mailbag 1.0!
Note: The way these tweets are displayed, some of the mocks are cropped. You’ll have to open them in Twitter to see the full draft.
