Fred Toucher here and it’s that time of year, you guys: Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame voting time! I don't have a vote, but several qualified people do, and they have the responsibility of who will be the next bands to enter the hallowed halls of the Cleveland Ohio institution!
I’ve loved Rock 'n' Roll since I can remember. Something about a man or a woman picking up a six-string guitar makes me feel like a million bucks! When a qualified musician picks up a four-string bass, I think that’s great too! As for the drums? Man, I really like them as well.
Some people like classical music more than rock 'n' roll. I don’t. Now classical is really good music, but I prefer rock 'n' roll to that kind of music. I’ll go see your classical band play, but during the performance, I’ll probably be dreaming about the next rock 'n' roll song I’ll hear.
Jazz music is a kind of music popularized by The Cosby Show. It features a lot of instruments and is complicated. Rock 'n' roll can be complicated too but sometimes is not. Either way, I really enjoy it.
I know what you’re saying: “what about country music?” Good question. A lot of people like the hats in country music, but did you know there are some rock musicians that wear hats too? I saw a piano player wearing a Red Sox hat once. I just smiled to myself on that one!
Folks swear by rap music. They like that it’s the only music that features rhyming words. I agree that that is a great thing about rap music, but I miss how loud rock music is when I’m listening to the newest hit rap artist. A lot of times rappers will only have a record player man instead of a whole band like in rock music.
There’s music for everyone. Believe me. Even serial killers have heard music before. That’s why they should probably not have it in schools. Kids shouldn’t be taught bad things.
Without further ado, here are my votes for the 2024 Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame:
The Rolling Stones
The Beatles
Elvis Presley
Jesus Jones
Fingers crossed they get in. If not, can we meet back here next year, same time, same place.
For those about to rock, I bow to your taste in music! Rock 'n' roll forever!
