Boston: You Can Now Fly Direct To Hawaii On Delta Airlines

In case you need another reason to desperately want to go to Hawaii, Logan Airport has some great news to share. Delta Airlines announced that it will now fly direct with a new route out of Boston to Honolulu, Hawaii.

“Over the past decade, Delta has been dedicated to refining our domestic footprint, and this year we’re strengthening our roots within our well-positioned U.S. hubs to match increased demand,” said Joe Esposito, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, in an official statement.

These flight routes will begin regularly on November 21. Delta states, "Hawaii-bound Delta customers will be able to choose from 22 daily nonstop flights next winter, including a new daily, seasonal nonstop service between BOS and HNL starting Nov. 21 through Apr. 30."

In this expansion, Delta will also add another cross-country flight route. This will be diagonally from corner to corner with the new option to fly from Seattle to Miami.

Delta might be the most convenient option later this year to fly direct from Boston to Hawaii, however, it is not the only option. Hawaiian Airlines also offers this route. "With Hawaiian Airlines offering direct flights from Boston to Honolulu—that's right, you won't have to worry about any vacation-delaying layovers," they say. This officially launched in 2019.

In the past, if you were unable to grab a Hawaiian Airlines flight, travelers flying out of Logan would typically connect in New York or California in order to get to Hawaii. Though some like to break up the 11-hour flight this way, it does add a significant travel component.

"In total, Delta will operate 22 daily nonstop flights to Hawaii, flying to four Hawaiian destinations from eight cities," Boston.com states. In total, flying direct, this trip is over 5,000 miles. Therefore, it becomes Delta's longest domestic flight. To accommodate this, Delta will have its full food and beverage menu available.

Where will you take your board in Beantown? One of my favorites is Reservation Road Park, in the Hyde Park neighborhood. It's centered around a big bowl that contains rails through the middle. There are also plenty flat edges along the side. This park is newly renovated offering fresh air and fresh rides. Then, there's Smith Playground in Allston, which has a pump track. It's well known for being one of the best skateboarding spots in the city with various smaller bowls. Furthermore, it's quite colorful and also contains a roller hockey rink with a Bruins logo at the center. There are also options in Eastie, Jamaica Plain, North Cambridge, Somerville, and Dudley Square.

This is good to know if you're looking for a place to skate. Per the Boston code detailed on American Legal: "Unless otherwise permitted by City rule or regulation, it shall be unlawful for any person to ride or operate roller blades, roller skates, a skateboard, or stunt-type bicycle upon public property in the City of Boston."
