Here Is Where You Can Go Trail Ice Skating In New England
Ice skating, cross-country skiing, and hiking have long been great outdoor winter activities. However, if you combine the three of them together, you could be in for a real thrill. In New England, you can go trail ice skating through a forest. In fact, there is where you will find the longest skating trail in the country.
Believe it or not, this is not as simple to arrange as it sounds. For starters, the ice obviously needs to be frozen for the entire path you are about to embark on. The Lake Morey Skating trail is over four miles long. They describe themselves as “A loop that skirts the shores of the lake beyond the hockey rinks and provides adventurer’s panoramic views.”
If you are unfamiliar with this activity, the ice paths are more narrow than what you find at your typical rink. The view, environment, and sporting style are somewhat similar to cross-country skiing. Back in 2018, Country Living even did an in-depth feature on forest skating.
