Red Sox place OF Franchy Cordero on COVID-19 list
The Boston Red Sox announced on Monday that outfielder Franchy Cordero has been placed on the COVID-19-Related Injured List.

Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAYThe Boston Red Sox announced on Monday that outfielder Franchy Cordero has been placed on the COVID-19-Related Injured List.
They also claimed reliever Joel Payamps off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays. Cordero was acquired last week from the Kansas City Royals for OF Andrew Benintendi and cash, along with RHP Josh Winckowski from the Mets. The Red Sox additionally will receive two players to be named later from the Royals and one from the Mets.
The Sox held their first team workout of the season on Monday in Fort Myers. They're scheduled to open their Grapefruit League schedule on Feb. 28 against the Minnesota Twins.
