Patriots Hall of Famer Tedy Bruschi is out of the hospital after recovering well from suffering his second stroke on the Fourth of July. Bruschi himself updated his Instagram followers on Monday, confirming that he's "doing much better" and revealing that the stroke occurred early on the Fourth.
"Around 10:30am on July 4th I lost use of my left arm," Bruschi's caption reads. "I then tried to speak and realized I was slurring my speech. As I turned to my wife she noticed the left side of my face was drooping. We immediately knew what was happening. These are stroke warning signs. We called 911 and an ambulance got me to the hospital. Thank you for all your kind thoughts and prayers. ???????? I’m doing much better."
The photo in Bruschi's Instagram post outlines the warning signs of strokes, making it easier to memorize with with the acronym "BE FAST". One major component of Bruschi's mission with his foundation, Tedy's Team, has been to help treat or minimize damage from strokes by educating people on early warning signs and risk factors.
It certainly sounds like Bruschi's vastly improved knowledge of the warning signs of strokes helped him handle his latest event quickly and effectively. And he's ostensibly raised enough awareness to help plenty of others who suffer strokes in the future.
