Patriots’ Rookies Get Official Jersey Numbers Ahead Of Preseason Debuts

Finally, the media's long national nightmare is over. No more roster confusion for the New England Patriots, who have issued real, actual jersey numbers for their rookies just ahead of most of them making their preseason debuts on Thursday.

It's likely that all Patriots rookies will play on Thursday night against the Washington Redskins, with the exception of running back Sony Michel, who is recovering from a clean-up process on his knee.

The team revealed the new jersey numbers via Twitter, but below is the full list for your convenience, in numerical order.

#5: QB Danny Etling
#7: P Corey Bojorquez
#14: WR Braxton Berrios
#22: RB Ralph Webb
#29: RB Sony Michel
#33: S A.J. Moore
#34: CB J.C. Jackson
#35: CB Keion Crossen
#42: CB Duke Dawson
#44: LB Christian Sam
#45: DE Trent Harris
#51: LB Ja'Whaun Bentley
#76: OT Isaiah Wynn
#85: TE Ryan Izzo
#92: DT Frank Herron
#97: DT John Atkins

The rookies had previously been given duplicate numbers in the 50s and 60s to start training camp, which occasionally made differentiating them from their veteran counterparts a little tough. It was especially challenging to tell Dawson and LB Elandon Roberts, who both wore No. 52, apart from so far away.

Interestingly enough, the Pats still have some duplications going on - but they're at least not on the same side of the ball. New jersey numbers are also probably imminent for CB Jomal Wiltz (No. 22), and RBs Jeremy Hill (No. 33), Rex Burkhead (No. 34), and Mike Gillislee (No. 35). But the Patriots website, for now, has them designated with "o" or "d" based on their positions.

These numbers will be useful for any Patriots fan who would like to tune in and see what the rookies do on Thursday.
