During the 2021 shortened season the National Hockey League and Adidas came out with their first “Reverse Retro” jersey program that featured throwback jerseys with reverse looks for all of the teams in the league. Due to the success of the first set, a second set of “Reverse Retro” jerseys were released for the 2022-23 season. Adidas and the NHL will no longer be partnering on jerseys following the 2023-24 season as Fanatics will enter the fold, which means the Adidas “Reverse Retro” program is officially done.
Though the “Reverse Retro” program is no more, it doesn’t exactly mean we’ll never see those jerseys again. When a new jersey supplier takes over you occasionally see teams make a jersey change or a complete rebrand with the change of suppliers, so there’s a possibility that certain teams will bring back old looks when Fanatics takes over this upcoming summer. Here is a list of “Reverse Retro” jerseys that I’d love to see come back into the fold for teams, whether it be full-time, one night a year, or on an alternate basis, in the near future!
Anaheim Ducks - 2021
You could do anything that involves the Mighty Ducks look and I will love it. The Anaheim Ducks currently have some of the worst jerseys in hockey and need to go back to the Mighty Ducks looks immediately. The throwback look of the “Wild Wing” jersey was sweet and I’d love to see it back on NHL ice soon.
Arizona Coyotes - 2021
The Kachina head logo with purple being the primary color on the jersey was a terrific look for the Coyotes. They should bring these back and get rid of the bland alternates they currently wear that just say "Arizona" across the chest of the jersey. Going full Kachina is the way that the Coyotes need to go.
Boston Bruins - 2021

This would be the PERFECT alternate jersey for the Boston Bruins going forward. The 1990’s look that these are based on need to make a full-time comeback in Boston. A jersey set of the traditional black and white with this yellow alternate look would vault the Bruins to the top jersey set in the league in my opinion.
Colorado Avalanche - 2021
I’m biased towards this one because I love the classic look of the Quebec Nordiques. Mixing in the current Avs color scheme with the Nordiques look really suited the eye. I don’t think these should be permanently back, but an occasional return would be awesome.
Los Angeles Kings - 2021
I’ll do whatever needs to be done to get the Kings purple/yellow color scheme back. That scheme mixed in with the throwback crest logo just worked so well on the jersey.
Minnesota Wild - 2021
I want the Wild to go to their reverse retro’s as their main look so desperately. We’ve taken a step towards that with the Wild bringing back last year’s reverse retro as the current alternate. Now bring back this one as well. The classic North Stars colors are so much better than the current look.
Washington Capitals - 2021
I love the screaming eagle. I love the red, white, and blue as the Capitals color scheme. Bring this one back.
Anaheim Ducks - 2022-23
As I said earlier, anything that has to do with the Mighty Ducks I love. It’s a classic look with a more current color scheme. It doesn’t have to be back full time, but it has to get into the rotation on a yearly basis.
Boston Bruins - 2022-23

The Pooh Bear is always great. Always. This jersey doesn’t need to become a full-time alternate, but dropping it out there every once in a while would be a beautiful thing to see on TD Garden ice.
Florida Panthers - 2022-23

The Palm Tree and Hockey stick logo with the light blue primary jersey color was such a beautiful look for the Panthers. These would never be the primary’s because of the lack of a Panther in the logo, but these would look great as an alternate for Florida.
Los Angeles Kings - 2022-23
Similar to what I said earlier with the color scheme for the Kings. The purple/yellow just works so good. This crown is also better than the current crown.
Montreal Canadiens - 2022-23
As a Boston Bruins fan I hate pretty much anything that has to do with the Montreal Canadiens. However, the Habs absolutely nailed it with this look. The traditional “CH” logo on a jersey with this shade of blue looks TERRIFIC. I know they will never bring it back because of how boring of an organization they are, but making these a full-time alternate would be the right decision.
New York Rangers - 2022-23
Lady Liberty belongs in the rotation on a yearly basis. And matching this with the classic royal blue jersey color made the look even better than the old Lady Liberty navy blue. It would be a terrific alternate to what is already a terrific jersey set in New York.
Winnipeg Jets - 2022-23
The old Winnipeg Jets look with the current color scheme. I don’t hate the current Jets look, but the old look is so much better. A return to the old look would fit so nice on the ice in Winnipeg.
