Jarren Duran and the Boston Red Sox have a deal.

As reported Friday by ESPN's Jeff Passan, Duran and the Red Sox have reached an agreement on a new one-year deal worth $3.85 million, with a one-year option for $8 million in the 2026 season. The Red Sox had previously filed for salary arbitration at $3.5 million, with Duran filing at $4 million.

The Red Sox officially announced the deal Friday morning, before Passan reported the numbers.

Duran, 28, enjoyed a breakout season for the Red Sox in 2024. He led the American League in doubles (48) and triples (14), and .285 with 21 home runs, 111 runs scored, and an .834 OPS. His 8.7 Wins Above Replacement (WAR) ranked fifth among all major-league players, as he provided strong defense and baserunning on top of his hitting. Duran earned his first career All-Star nod and finished eighth in AL MVP voting.

If Duran simply maintains his 2024 level of production and all-around value in 2025, it would be a no-brainer for the Red Sox to exercise their club option for 2026. It would also be wise for Duran to start pushing for a big-money extension in Boston. He'd most certainly command a big contract on the open market, should he continue to play like an All-Star.

Even if Duran regresses a bit from his 2024 form, the Red Sox are getting a great deal for the next season or two.
